Widianto Nugroho is was Bandung-based graphic and information designer.
From 2004 to 2011 Widianto experimented with generative / software art using programming media (Processing, etc.). For this kind of artwork, from 2008 to 2011, he has briefly participated in some group exhibitions in Bandung and Jakarta, along with some emerging new media artists from Indonesia and abroad, as well as assisting new media art-related undergraduate course (from 2005 to 2009) at Faculty of Art and Design, Bandung Institute of Technology (FSRD ITB).
During 2009 to 2011, he made some collaborative works, most notably with friends from Common Room Network Foundation (FB Page) Bandung and Ruang Rupa Jakarta. In 2005, he remotely contributed to the Processing community, as well as to its related projects at the MIT Media Lab namely the OpenStudio and Share Experiment by means of online collaboration.
In the 2000s, he was member of Knowledge Management Research Group (KMRG), known for their work, the Ganesha Digital Library (GDL) and the Indonesia Digital Library Network (IndonesiaDLN).
From 2008 to 2009, he involved in research and development activity on free and open source software (F/OSS) desktop design at Microelectronic Center ITB (Duku Flash and Kamonesan Gnome Theme, Kamonesan was submitted to BlankOn Linux repository back then), and Indonesia Institute of Science/LIPI (contributed to IGOS Nusantara).
In late 1990s/early 2000s, he was instrumental in designing and developing early versions of ITB website, the Inharmonia and Progressio Wordpress themes, which were among the earliest adopter of World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) standards.
Widianto graduated with Sarjana Seni (S.Sn., equivalent to Bachelor of Fine Art/BFA) degree from ITB in 1999.
